Weaknesses in systems are used take over system, intrude the infrastrcture. This is done mostly without human interaction.
Prevention is done technically by removeing vulnerabilities.
Detection is done by vulnerability scanning and pentesting

Phishing

Weakness in human behavior is used to intrude systems.
Success needs the actice contribution of humans.
Prevention is done by increasing the awareness and enabling a hollistic and fast detection and response and strengthening the authentication and authorization procedure.

Orchestrated Multi Modal Attack

A combination of various attacks simultaniously, orchestrated by a team of skilled people following a strategy.
This form of attack is very rare and limitted to very exposed targets, often driven by state actors or other well-organised groups.
The effort is enormous and expensive and therefore only used for attacks with high value. (not only money).

What will come

Many attacks are performed automatically or semi-automated, just a little interaction on attackers side is needed.
They just collect and sort the victims, use AI as tool to cathegorize the victims and set the ransom or other means of monetarising them.

Near Future

AI orchestrated multi-modal attacks will be seen soon. AI will use a set of attacks to get control over infrstructure and user accounts, will create distortion in the detection- and defense-systems on the victims side, will play hide-and-seek with the defense team and adopt the attacks to the reactions.
